About me

      Though I work in various media,  I have considered transparent watercolor and alcohol ink my primary mediums of choice.  I have been painting since a young age but began my professional career with a Bachelors of Fine Art from Mississippi State University in 2012.

      A few of my southern artist influences are Brent Funderburk, Wyatt Waters, and Walter Anderson.  While studying under Funderburk, I was encouraged to find beauty in the bold by building a kinetic dance across the page using a combination of layers of transparency and light, a vivid kaleidoscope of colors, and a range of textures and mediums to create a unique composition.

      I have always been drawn to fauvist and impressionistic styles of art that use shapes, colors, lines, textures, movement and mood to capture the viewers attention in a dramatic way.  Whether it is a natural mountain scene, abstract splash of color, or portrait of a loved one, I try to capture the emotion of the piece - not from the subject itself, but through all of the characteristics that make up that feeling behind the subject.
